We are seeking a Director of Operations to work in our facility located in Santa Rosa, CA and oversight of a depot facility located in Southern California. This is a management role that will have direct reports and will be responsible for the all operational distribution functions including inbound receipt, storage, production and outbound delivery of the Marley Natural cannabis products throughout California. This position will oversee all people, processes, systems and facilities to ensure for secure, safe and reliable service of brand.
•Responsible for day to day activities of directing, controlling and coordinating all phases of operations including warehouse, production and distribution operations
•Act as the liaison between distribution center and sales operations to ensure timely and accurate deliveries in an efficient and cost effective manner
•Maintains receiving, warehousing, shipping, production and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
•Builds a best in class workforce and operation that fully complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
•Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
•Work with internal and external IT resources to successfully implement and manage ERP and other required software tools and support enhancements, modifications and implementations
•Oversee purchasing strategy, including commodity management, vendor selection, contract management, competitive sourcing and materials planning
•Optimize master scheduling, planning, production control, logistics and supply chain processes in order to ensure proper flow of materials throughout the value stream
•Improve the existing supply chain by reducing lead-times, creating alternative tier two sources, facilitating beneficial inventory sharing arrangements, improving quality controls, and eliminating bottlenecks
•Drive improvement in on-time delivery, past due backlog, lead-times, and inventory levels through the implementation of world-class materials management processes.
•Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with warehouse management system/inventory system of record
•Deploys dispatch and routing software and implements fleet of delivery vehicles and delivery drivers
•Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
•Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual and quarterly budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
•Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
•Maintains warehouse and distribution staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
Qualifications and Experience:
•Bachelor's or higher degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or Business related field preferred
•7-10+ years' supply chain management experience in progressively responsible roles
•ISM or APICS certification a plus
•Demonstrated experience managing cost performance, supply/demand forecasting, and distribution execution across a variety of product lines from multiple sources
•Proven ability to build relationships internally and externally
•Strong analytical, financial, and profit and loss skills
•In-depth knowledge of key supply chain/logistics processes and current best practices; including Reverse Logistics
•Ability to quickly establish credibility and engage others to ensure the most effective logistics solutions
•Demonstrated experience in creating/upgrading the distribution function in an organization of similar size and scope
•Exceptional change management and leadership skills
•Strong project management and implementation skills - must be hands-on
•Expert time-management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills; Ability to quickly adapt to an often-changing and rapid-paced work environment
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to produce effective presentations
•Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Materials and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) software packages
•Fluency (verbal and written) in the English language is essential.
•Ability to periodically lift, push and pull 50+ pounds, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach.
•Hot /cold/wet environments with loud machinery, fumes and moving vehicles.
•Ability to travel up to 25%
•Excitement for working in a start-up environment with a high level of ambiguity and change
•Background check will be conducted after conditional offer of employment is extended
